Hi! We’re a German (Bavarian) man and an American (Texan) woman – who happen to be husband and wife – living in El Paso, Texas, finally, after navigating a myriad of red tape to get to where we are now.
We want to share our experiences with government, society, etiquette, cuisine, domesticity, etc., from both a German and an American perspective. And hopefully meet some others who don’t quite know what side of the pond they belong on!

Glad to ‘meet’ you. Our situation is the opposite German wife (me) and American husband. I’ve been in AL since Aug 2007 after having lived in Guam (Feb -Sept 2005) and WA (Sept 2005-Aug 2007) while my husband was still in the Navy.
Hello Texas,
this is Barbi from KY! I am from Germany and my husband is American… We are expecting our third child in Feb. 2011. I came across your blog on GermanDeli.com… yum yum yum… Just thought I’d say hi!
Hello!
We are also the opposite: German wife, American husband. Your blog popped up under ‘you might also like’ on my newest post on dumplings. I’ve got a good Bavarian dumpling recipe on it, which my husband adores.
Your Gratitude List fo foodie made us laugh as there are much the same things on it that we love too!!

He’s a chef and comes up with most recipes on our blog. We try to combine German food with American, British and so on
Hallo Anika! Thanks for your comment! I am TOTALLY trying the dumpling recipe this week, as I haven’t had dumplings in weeks and I’m craving one RIGHT now.
I hope you stick around on my blog and I am looking very much forward to checking yours out. I’m on vacation for the weekend but will be back to my normal blogging on Tuesday (maybe a few short entries before then).
Ciao!
Amanda
Hi
Really enjoyed your blog!
I’m a german (hamburg) living in Pittsburgh PA.
Had to laugh at several of your favorite things.
Ritter Sport Hazelnut!!!!! That’s what I’m talking about…….the one with whole nuts!
But what about Brötchen, Schrippen, german breakfast rolls..whatever you want to call them?? After 25 years in the States….I still miss them the most.
Made Kaiserschmarrn today and noticed your recipe. Mine seems to be the “dierer” kind.
