For a day or two, I guess you could say I had the “Baby Blues,” that all-too-common postnatal symptom of constant weeping, exhaustion and frustration. But that lasted only a few days and in retrospect, the weeping was from pure love and amazement rather than anything negative. Now that the hormones have settled down, my weight has steadied and we’re getting into some semblance of a routine, I find I am suffering the “Baby Pinks,” where everything is rosy, I want to just squish my little butterbean, and I can’t get enough of her. I even forego allotted naps to just sit with her and look at her!
I am still exhausted and CAN get frustrated, but in general, I am swimming in pink!

What a beauty! I stumbled across your blog (from expat women) and I am glad I did. I am a Texan currently living in Germany. And the funny thing is, I am teaching English to a German lady who will be moving to El Paso in the summer. I hope she enjoys it as much as ya’ll are
All the best
pinkie is just adorable! i did not have time for a lot of blogging here recently, my husband lost his job, thats the bad news, the good news is, we are spending a lot of time together something we could hardly do when he was working as he was working 12 – 14 hour days and weekends a lot of time. still hope he’ll find a job soon, but for now we are enjoying each others company and that does not include a lot of time on the computer . . .
all the best to you and keep on going pink
Oh Jana, I am soooo sorry to hear about your husband’s job, but you are right…cherish those times you do have together and before you know it, something WILL come along. I’ve felt bad about being jobless for the last few months and the foreseeable future, as well, and a bit scared I WON’T find one when it’s time…having a new baby AND being 40 years old in just a week! But I also have faith I’ll be ok. We went and applied for Hannah’s passport today! Hoping it will be here in about 3-4 weeks, and then it’s an IMMEDIATE purchase of two tickets to Munich (she’ll be on our laps.. bad idea??)! We had to have her photo taken at Walgreen’s yesterday. Have you done that with a newborn? Getting them to sit up, look at the camera AND not cry? What a feat! I just can’t find time right now for the blog, which I am sad about, but I am lucky to get this email out! Hannah will be up in a matter of minutes. So I’m really just using my Facebook wall as my “blog” recently (and please feel free to check it out…it’s under “Amanda Kemp Waldmannstetter.” It’s good to hear from you and remember… your husband will get a great job, and right now you are getting great memories with him!
Amanda
